Abstract: The incidence of patent foramen ovalen is 1/4 among normal people; more and more data show that patent foramen ovale is correlated with stroke, migraine and other clinical disease in recent years. At present, some studies have found that patent foramen ovale is closely related with migraine with aura, mainly considered that some chemicals went into the brain circulation by the open way of patent foramen ovale which induced migraine attack. Due to the serious damage of physical and mental health of the migraine, bad quality of life and work productivity, and serious economic burden to families and society, exploring the mechanism of migraine to better treat the disease is meaningful. In this paper, through explaining the relationship and its possible mechanism between patent foramen ovale and migraine with aura, the aim is to provide more adequate theories for better clinical prevention and treatment of patients of the migraine with aura.
