Abstract: 2,2',4,4'-tetrabromodiphenyl ether is one of the highest homologue of PBDEs in environmental media. It has lipophilic and bioaccumulation characteristics and can also produce physiological toxicity to organism even at low concentration. The paper introduces the main source and distri-bution in environment of BDE-47. The toxicity effects and mechanism of BDE-47 are illustrated from several aspects toxicity of reproductive, developmental, thyroid, neurotoxicity and immune.
