Abstract: Phytoestrogens are natural plant compounds that are structurally or functionally similar to estradiol, which have both estrogenic and anti-estrogenic activity, displaying a two-way regulation ability and extensive preventive and therapeutic effects on hormone-related diseases. Studies demonstrate the benefit of phytoestrogens in addressing the perimenopausal vasomotor symptoms and postmenopausal health risks. Phytoestrogens have a safe side-effect profile with no increased rates of vaginal bleeding, endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial cancer, and breast cancer. They offer a promising alternative to conventional hormone replacement therapy for perimenopausal syndrome.
