语言中的结果句式与徦结果句式
On Resultatives and Pseudo-Resultatives
Abstract: The resultative construction, an important linguistic phenomenon, occupies a unique place in the study of syntax and semantics and is a hot topic in linguistics. However, people do not pay much attention to the pseudo-resultative construction which is similar to the resultatives in construction. This paper will make a contrastive study between the resultative construction and the pseudo-resultative construction from the re- spects of telicity, event-argument homomorphism, predicates and vP-shell construction. The author finds that the predicates of resultatives are activities or achievements, the result phrase of resultatives makes the sen- tence be telic, resultatives are in line with event-argument homomorphism and predicates belong to implicit creation verbs. On the contrary, the predicates of pseudo-resultatives are accomplishments, the result phrase of pseudo-resultatives do not make the sentence be telic, pseudo-resultatives are not in line with event-argu- ment homomorphism and predicates belong to explicit creation verbs.
