Abstract: According to the new requirement of the discharge of vessels in emission control areas of North America and California, the paper discusses the problems that the low sulfur fuel brings to the ship management. The measures and management of ships are put forward, and the management and the operation of ships in emission control areas of North America and California are illustrated in detail.
