Abstract: This study explores critical cultural awareness from a Cognitive Linguistic perspective. Based on frame semantics (Fillmore, 1982, 1985) and the explication on frame blending in conceptual blending theory (Fauconnier and Turner, 2002; Turner, 2007), the study investigates frame-related cognitive processes behind the development of critical cultural awareness through a set of experiments. The result shows that critical cultural awareness involves framing, reframing, and frame-evaluation blending.
