Construction is the final component in manufacturing's productdevelopment process. Construction is complete before manufacturing'sproduction begins. Consequently, it is misleading to conceive constructionas analogous to factory production (although some aspects ofconstruction fit better in that analogy; i.e. fabrication). Construction isbest conceived as a product development process, extending from productdesign through process design to facility (the manufacturing process tool)construction, the end result of which is readiness for manufacturing.
