功能对等理论视角下电影字幕翻译——以《瞬息全宇宙》为例

Subtitle Translation of Films from the Perspective of Functional Equivalence Theory—A Case Study of Everything Everywhere All at Once

摘要: 电影作为大众娱乐的一种方式，反映社会现实、历史文化和大众思想观念，以无可取代的方式影响着人类社会。由于不同文化在语言及相关社会背景上存在差异，字幕翻译直观地影响着电影产生的传播效果，以及受众对于电影中输出的文化及价值观的理解和接纳程度。通过对《瞬息全宇宙》(Everything Everywhere All at Once, 2022)部分英译汉字幕翻译进行分析，剖析译者在具体字幕翻译实践下所选择的不同策略和手段并进行阐释，以期为海外电影字幕翻译提供借鉴经验。

Abstract: As a form of popular entertainment, films reflect social reality, historical culture and public ideological concepts, exerting an irreplaceable influence on human society. Owing to differences in language and relevant social backgrounds between diverse cultures, subtitle translation directly impacts the communication effect of films, as well as the audience’s understanding and acceptance of the culture and values conveyed therein. By analyzing parts of the English-to-Chinese subtitle translation of Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), this paper examines and interprets the various strategies and approaches adopted by translators in specific subtitle translation practices, with the intention of providing reference experiences for the subtitle translation of overseas films.
