文学达尔文主义视角下希腊神话改写探究——以霍桑的《丛林故事》为例

Research on the Adaptation of Greek Mythology from the Perspective of Literary Darwinism—Taking Hawthorne’s Tanglewood Tales as an Example

摘要: 《丛林故事》是美国作家霍桑的代表性儿童文学作品。他通过改写希腊神话和精准刻画人物心理，打造出此部儿童文学经典。文学达尔文主义以进化心理学和人类行为学等理论基础为依据进行文学批评。据此，文章从文学达尔文主义视角对《丛林故事》中的叙事技巧、人物塑造以及最后的文学作品呈现进行分析，探讨此神话改写作品所反映的人类与文学的紧密链接，旨在揭示文学是人类不可或缺的内在需求，以此强调科技时代中的文学存续与发展对人类的重要引领作用。

Abstract: Tanglewood Tales is a representative work of children’s literary work by American writer Hawthorne. Through the adaptation of Greek mythology and the precise psychological depiction of characters, he created this classic. Literary Darwinism employs theoretical foundations such as evolutionary psychology and human behavior studies for literary criticism. Accordingly, this essay analyzes the narrative techniques, character portrayal, and textual presentation of Tanglewood Tales from the perspective of Literary Darwinism, exploring the inherent bond between humanity and literature reflected in this mythological adaptation. This study aims to demonstrate that literature constitutes an indispensable intrinsic need for humanity and emphasizes the guiding role of literature’s existence and development in the modern technological age.
