Research Progress of Radionuclide Imaging in Rapid-Eye Movement Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD)
Abstract: Rapid-eye-movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a REM sleep parasomnia clinically characterized by muscle atonia, unpleasant dreams and vigorous behaviors (e.g. shouting punching or jumping out of bed) while sleeping. There was even a case cohort study showing that the patients who suffer idiopathic RBD would even have a risk of up to 92% to diagnose neurodegenerative diseases within 14 years, that is, IRBD could be a preclinical marker of neurodegenerative disease. In recent years, the research on imaging signs of the transformation of IRBD into related neurodegenerative diseases are on study. This article focuses on the study of PET and SPECT on RBD and neurodegenerative diseases to assist the early diagnosis and intervention of clinicians of related neurodegenerative diseases.
