翻译伦理视角下字幕翻译研究——以《使女的故事I》为例

A Study on Subtitle Translation from the Perspective of Translation Ethics—Taking The Handmaid’s Tale I as an Example

摘要: 在全球化日益加深，跨文化交际活动日益频繁的大背景下，影视行业蓬勃发展。而字幕翻译作为影视作品中重要的翻译形式之一，则具有承载影片情节和意义的重要作用。因此，众多学者正日益关注字幕翻译的原则、方法和策略研究。本文以美国电视剧《使女的故事I》的字幕翻译为例进行分析，从安德鲁•切斯特曼翻译伦理的五个方面，举例论证该剧字幕翻译当中的伦理性。结果表明，译者在翻译伦理的指导下，选择了适当的翻译策略来完成《使女的故事I》的字幕翻译工作，因此，译文符合翻译伦理的要求。

Abstract: In the context of increasing globalization and frequent cross-cultural communication, the film and television industry is booming, and subtitle translation, as one of the critical forms of translation in film and television industries, plays a crucial role in carrying the plot and meaning of the film. Therefore, there are many scholars who focus on the principles, methods and strategies of subtitle translation. This paper takes the subtitle translation of the American TV series The Handmaid’s Tale I as a case to demonstrate the ethics of subtitle translation from the aspects of Andrew Chesterman’s five models of translation. The results show that the translators chose appropriate translation strategies to translate the subtitle of The Handmaid’s Tale I under the guidance of translation ethics, and therefore, the version complied with the requirements of translation ethics.
