摘要:
The Turkish Navy (TN) has started an initiative to build a new middleware as part of a generic CMS development project named GENESIS. This middleware should satisfy the requirements of CMS applications that should run in a heterogeneous distributed computing environment. It should also be flexible enough to support existing applications. The approach was to use Off-The-Shelf (OTS) components and open standards to build a portable and maintainable middleware while preserving functionality, performance and reliability requirements of CMS applications. This middleware is implemented by using CORBA and its Event and Naming services. Also, a portable operating system (OS) wrapper framework named Adaptive Communication Environment (ACE) is used. During the development process, it has been observed that the right mixture of OTS and in-house software cuts down the development time to a great extent without sacrificing functionality, performance and reliability requirements.
