Abstract: The prospective memory is the ability of remembering to executive an act in the future on one’s own initiative and is affected by many factors. Emotion is the subjective experience of the individ-ual’s attitude to the objective things whether meet their needs. It has a certain effect on the pros-pective memory. Ellis and Ashbrook’s resource allocation model and Eysenck and Calvo’s processing efficiency theory serve as the theoretical explanations for emotion affecting prospective memory. Positive emotion and negative emotion have different effects on prospective memory. The future study should pay more attention to positive emotion and its neural bases of emotion influencing prospective memory.
