    Formation Principle and Influence Factors of the Force Required to Separate Two Sheets of Glass with a Thin Layer of Water between Them

夹层有水玻璃分离表面张力压强差Glasses with a Layer of Water Separation Surface Tension Pressure Difference



Put a thin layer of water between two sheets of glass and try to separate them, it could be found that the force required was much larger than the one when the water layer did not exist. Based on the effect of atmosphere and surface tension, the formula for the pulling force required was derived and obtained, which has come to a conclusion that the force would mainly depend on the surface tension coefficient between water and glass, the area of water layer, and the curvatures of the water layer’s edge. Furthermore, experiments were executed to verify the correctness of theory and investigate the influence of the volume of water as well as the glass material.
