Abstract: Targeted intramuscular injections of botulinum toxin (BTX) for dynamic wrinkle reduction is one of the most common cosmetic treatments. Studies have found that such treatment not only alters facial appearance but also affects emotional status and recognition ability which were consistent with the facial feedback hypothesis. Treatment of corrugator muscles was associated with reduced negative emotion while the treatment of crow’s feet was associated with reduced positive emotion. These findings may contribute to the emergence of novel treatment option for major depression.
