A Review of the Relationship between Individual Reputation and Intertemporal Choice
Abstract: The importance of reputation is self-evident for individuals, organizations, and even countries. A good reputation will not only be recognized and supported by the outside world, but may also bring a series of long-term values. When reputation is threatened or at high risk, it will cause ir-reparable losses to individuals or businesses. Therefore, the value of reputation determines that it will have an important impact on people’s behavioral decisions. However, the existing research on reputation mostly focuses on its influence on organizational behavior, and there are few explorations on individual decision-making behavior. From the perspective of individuals, this article summarizes the deficiencies of existing research by combing the related research on the reputation and intertemporal choices, so as to provide new ideas and directions for future research.
