Abstract: The addition of nanoparticles (NPs) to the foam systems including the surfactant to improve the stability of foams has received extensive attention for several years. This paper aims to review and summarize the latest research on particle-stabilized foams in recent years, analyze the effects of nanoparticles size, surface wettability, concentration and synergy with surfactants on the foams, and identify directions for future research. In this report, the structure and properties of the foams are firstly introduced, and then the mechanism that nanoparticles improve the stability of the foams is briefly introduced. Finally, some major factors such as particle size, surface wettability, and concentration on the foam stability are introduced and discussed through new findings in recent years. The results of the study show that the effects of nanoparticles on the stability of the foams are composed of a combination of factors, and there is currently no way to identify and measure the contribution of a single property to the stability of the foams, which may be a subject of future research.
