庞德《东门之杨》译者创造性叛逆新解
A New Interpretation of the Translator’s Creative Treason in Pound’s Translation of RENDEZ-VOUS MANQUE
摘要: 埃兹拉•庞德英译的《诗经》在中国文化对外译介与欧美诗坛中的地位举足轻重,对其进行研究对中国古典文学外译及汉学对外传播具有重要意义。从创造性叛逆的视角对《诗经》选段《陈风•东门之杨》庞德译文进行文本细读及与原诗进行对比分析,可以探讨庞德如何在译文中实现语言风格、意象选择与意境构建层面上的译者创造性叛逆,及庞德式诗学如何影响庞德在翻译中实施创造性叛逆。研究发现,庞德《东门之杨》译作中的译者创造性叛逆不被原文的字句与意象所束缚,而是摄纳诗意后,改换合适的语言风格,选取适配的象征意象,重点再现或重塑原诗的意境,让译入语读者能够获得中国古典诗歌的审美感受与艺术联想。
Abstract: Ezra Pound’s English translation of Classical Anthology plays an important role in the introduction of Chinese culture and European and American poetries, and its studies are of great significance to the translation of Chinese classical literature and the foreign publicity of Sinology. The close reading of Pound’s translation of RENDEZ-VOUS MANQUE, an excerpt from Classical Anthology, and also the comparative analysis with the source poem in light of creative treason can explore how Pound achieves creative treason in the translated text in terms of the language style, the image selection and the construction of artistic conception and how Pound’s poetics influences his creative treason in translation from a new perspective. This paper argues that Pound’s creative treason in RENDEZ-VOUS MANQUE is not bound by the words and images of the source text. After fully understanding the meaning of the source poem, Pound changes the language style, selects appropriate symbolic images, and focuses on reproducing or reshaping the artistic conception of the original poem, so that the target language readers could obtain the aesthetic feeling and artistic association of classical Chinese poetry.
