A Study of the Rhapsodies in the “Biographies of the Imperial Consorts” of the Book of Han

摘要: 《汉书》作为继《史记》之后研究西汉历史的重要著作，其文史意义不言而喻，而作为其中重要组成部分的《外戚传》也值得后世所重视。辞赋作为中国传统的文学表现手法，在汉时大兴，在叙事过程与抒情表意方面常起着重要作用，作为以女性为主要书写对象的《外戚传》，其中相关辞赋的书写既为后世的文学发展提供借鉴，也起到了画龙点睛，丰富人物形象与完善人物经历的作用。

Abstract: As a pivotal work for studying Western Han history following the Records of the Grand Historian, the Book of Han holds self-evident historical and literary significance. Particularly noteworthy is its “Biographies of Imperial Relatives” (Waiqi Zhuan), which constitutes an essential component deserving scholarly attention. The rhapsodic tradition (fu), as a quintessential Chinese literary form that flourished during the Han dynasty, frequently played a significant role in both narrative construction and lyrical expression. In the “Biographies of Imperial Relatives”—a text primarily focused on female subjects—its incorporation of rhapsodic elements not only provided literary models for subsequent generations but also functioned as crucial artistic embellishments. These poetic passages serve to enrich character portrayals, refine biographical details, and add nuanced dimensions to personal histories.
