亨利考埃尔《玛瑙瑙的潮汐》钢琴作品的音乐特征和演奏分析
Analysis of Musical Characteristics and Performance of Henry Cowell’s Piano Works “The Tides of Manaunaun”
摘要: 亨利考埃尔(Henry Cowell)是20世纪美国现代派作曲家,他的音乐创作极具开创性,钢琴作品有着极高的艺术价值。由于受到爱尔兰文化和东方音乐文化的影响,亨利考埃尔在12岁的时候就发明了“音簇”这一钢琴技法,作品《玛瑙瑙的潮汐》就是其中的代表作之一。与传统的演奏技法不同,这首作品突破了钢琴只用手指演奏的传统,开创了用手掌和手肘演奏的先河。而亨利考埃尔的成就远不止如此,在后期的作品中他将钢琴演奏延伸到钢琴内部,通过扫弦和敲击琴弦将钢琴变成打击乐和弦乐的双重乐器。这些充满创新的音乐创作激起了一波新的音乐创作的热潮,使得越来越多的新形式音乐不断出现,对西方的现代音乐做出了巨大的贡献。
Abstract: Henry Cowell was a 20th-century American modernist composer whose musical creations were highly pioneering, and his piano works possess exceptional artistic value. Influenced by Irish culture and Eastern traditional music, Cowell invented the tone cluster piano technique at the age of 12, with “The Tides of Manaunaun” emerging as one of his representative works. Unlike traditional performance techniques, this piece broke the convention of playing the piano only with fingers, pioneering performance using the palms and elbows. Cowell’s accomplishments were far more extensive: in his later works, he extended the scope of piano performance to the interior of the instrument, transforming the piano into a dual-purpose instrument of both percussion and string music through sweeping and striking the strings. These innovative musical creations sparked a wave of new musical composition, leading to the continuous emergence of more novel musical forms and making a profound contribution to Western modern music.
