无本回译视角下《穿越时空的大运河》的汉译研究
A Study of the Chinese Translation of China through Time from the Perspective of Textless Back Translation
摘要: 本研究以无本回译理论为框架,对比分析英国DK公司历史绘本《穿越时空的大运河》英文源文本与中文译本的翻译策略及跨媒介互动特征。研究发现,中文译本在语言、文化与文体层面呈现显著适应性调整:语言上通过句式复杂化与信息扩展增强表述严谨性;文化上选择增加历史细节以适配本土读者的认知;文体上弱化叙事性,增强科普化表达译文的扩展对图文关系产生了影响,使得图像和文本的互动方式发生变化。研究进一步揭示,译者翻译策略的选择主要受出版定位与本土市场预期的驱动。
Abstract: Drawing on the framework of textless back translation, this study conducts a comparative analysis of the English source text and the Chinese translation of China through Time, a historical picture book published by DK in the UK. It examines the translation strategies employed in the Chinese version as well as the characteristics of cross-media interaction. The findings indicate that the Chinese translation demonstrates notable adaptive adjustments at the linguistic, cultural, and stylistic levels. Linguistically, greater rigor is achieved through increased syntactic complexity and information expansion. Culturally, additional historical details are incorporated to better align with the cognitive expectations of target readers. Stylistically, the translation reduces narrative elements while strengthening a popular-science mode of expression. These textual expansions, in turn, affect the relationship between images and text, leading to changes in their modes of interaction. The study further reveals that the educational needs and cognitive characteristics of the target readership constitute the primary motivations behind the translator’s strategic choices.
