Abstract: In the context of the current use of smartphones, this study employed questionnaires and experiments to examine the impact of memory load on the creative thinking of different types of social media users. The findings revealed that: 1) proactive users demonstrated higher creative thinking scores compared to passive users; 2) an increase in memory load negatively affected the creative thinking scores of both proactive and passive users; 3) the interaction between social media usage type and memory load was not significant, indicating that the moderating effect of social media usage type on the relationship between memory load and creative thinking was not observed.
