Abstract: Regret is an extremely common negative cognitive emotion in life, which is an extremely common negative cognitive emotion that will accompany us for a long time, even for a lifetime. Regret is often accompanied by self-blame, disappointment and depression or other negative emotions, which involves people’s cognitive regulation and emotional perception or other psychological processes. It is not only closely related to mental health, but also affects people’s motivation and future behavior. This paper will explore the psychological mechanism, types, and regulatory strategies of regret to help people effectively reduce the impact of regret on health and turn regret into the driving force of positive behavior.
