基于《梦溪笔谈》汉英平行语料库的语义显化翻译策略研究
A Parallel Corpus-Based Study of Semantic Explicitation Strategy in C-E Translation of Brush Talks from Dream Brook
摘要: 《梦溪笔谈》是中国古代重要科技典籍，王宏主持翻译的《梦溪笔谈》英文全译本成为中国科技典籍外译的重大突破。本研究将《梦溪笔谈》源文本与王宏英译本逐句对应，自建汉英平行语料库，并通过文本细读和实例具体分析，从语义显化翻译的程度、内容和方式等方面考查科技典籍的语义显化翻译策略。研究发现，王宏译本显化程度高；显化内容以文本建构显化为主，文化内容显化为辅；显化方式以隐形显化为主，显性显化为辅。此研究有助于拓展科技典籍英译研究，助力中国文化走出去。
Abstract: The complete English translation of Brush Talks from Dream Brook, an important ancient Chinese scientific and technological classic, presided by Professor Wang Hong, has become a major breakthrough in the translation field. This study manages to correspond the source text of Brush Talks from Dream Brook with Wang Hong’s English translation version sentence by sentence, and builds its own Chinese-English parallel corpus. Through a close reading of the text and specific analysis of examples, it examines the semantic explicitation strategy in terms of its degree, content and mode. It is found that Wang Hong’s translation has a high degree of explicitation; the content of explicitation is mainly textual construction, supplemented by cultural content; and the mode is mainly covert explicitation, supplemented by overt explicitation. This study is conducive to the enrichment of studies on translation of ancient Chinese scientific and technological classics, and the international dissemination of Chinese culture.
