Abstract: With the continuous exacerbation of population aging, the elderly tourism market in China has also shown a sustained growth trend. The elderly have become an important force in the tourism consumer market. Tourism as a means to relax, broaden horizons, and experience different cultures has become a primary leisure activity for the elderly. In recent years, scholars have begun to pay attention to a unique tourism phenomenon-travel addiction, which refers to an individual’s strong dependence and craving for travel activities. Particularly, the strong dependence and craving of the elderly for travel activities are of significant concern. This study, based on the addiction model and employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, explores and verifies the formation process of elderly travel addiction behavior. The research provides new perspectives and empirical support for the theory of travel addiction, enriching its theoretical framework. The findings aid tourism enterprises, government management departments, and related organizations in better understanding the characteristics and needs of the elderly tourism market, thereby enabling the development of more targeted market strategies and tourism products to meet the travel needs of the elderly and enhance the quality of tourism services.
