The Impact and Coping Strategies of Parental Adverse Childhood Experiences on Parenting Styles
Abstract: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) profoundly impact lifelong health and intergenerational outcomes. Parental ACEs shape parenting styles and child development through neurocognitive, psychological, emotional, and behavioral pathways. This study examines these mechanisms and proposes multilevel interventions to enhance parenting practices, foster supportive family environments, and optimize family socialization for child well-being. By addressing ACEs’ intergenerational effects, targeted strategies can mitigate risks and promote resilience in children. This work advances understanding of ACEs’ multigenerational dynamics and informs family-centered clinical and community interventions.
