基于COCA语料库动词Perform的扩展意义单位研究

Research on the Extended Unit of Meaning of the Verb “Perform” Based on the COCA Corpus

摘要: 目前对于语言的学习已经不能仅停留在表面，更需要进行语言背后的探索，扩展意义单位为语言学习提供了新的视角。本研究则基于COCA语料库，对于动词perform的扩展意义单位进行研究。从搭配词、类联接、语义倾向与语义韵分析来对动词perform进行详细分析，揭示其多样的意义和搭配。本文详细探讨了该词的扩展意义单位，节点词perform主要有四种类联接，该词主要的语义倾向主要有行动、娱乐、态度以及功能四种类型，并且体现出以积极性以及中立为主语义韵。本文为学者进一步使用该词以及进行相关语义研究和语言教学提供参考。

Abstract: Nowadays language learning can no longer remain at the surface level. It is necessary to explore the underlying aspects of language so the extended meaning of unit can provide a new perspective for language learning. Based on the COCA corpus, this research focuses on the extended unit of meaning of the verb “perform”. A detailed analysis of the verb “perform” is conducted from the aspects of collocates, colligation, semantic preference and semantic prosody to reveal its diverse meanings and collocations. This research discusses in detail the extended unit of meaning of this word. The node word “perform” mainly has four types of colligations. Moreover, there are four kinds of semantic preferences: action, play, attitude and function. And the main semantic prosody of this word is positive and neutral. This research provides a reference for scholars to further use this word and conduct related semantic research and language teaching.
