Abstract: Cancer, a significant global public health issue, induces financial toxicity consequent to its diagnosis and treatment processes, which exerts a substantial influence on the economic conditions and quality of life of patients and their families. This article undertakes a comprehensive review of the research progress in the field of financial toxicity among cancer patients both at home and abroad. The focus lies in elucidating its core concepts, commonly employed assessment tools, influencing factors, and multi-level intervention strategies. It has been observed that substantial advancements have been made in the development and validation of financial toxicity assessment tools. However, the domestic research in this regard is still in its nascent phase, thereby urgently necessitating the development of localized tools and the exploration of prospective intervention measures that are congruent with the national circumstances. Moreover, extant research has revealed that factors such as treatment modalities and insufficient medical insurance coverage have a significant impact on financial toxicity. Concurrently, intervention strategies, including financial navigation models and cost communication, have manifested the potential to alleviate the financial burden. This review provides a theoretical reference for future research and offers guidelines for policy formulation and the optimization of clinical practice, with the anticipation of mitigating the financial toxicity of cancer patients and ameliorating their quality of life.
