Abstract: Objective: This study aims to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the application of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring techniques in the preservation of facial nerve function during acoustic neuroma microsurgery. The objective is to elucidate the evolution and trends of neurophysiological techniques in acoustic neuroma surgery. Methods: Utilizing the Web of Science core database, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on publications from January 1, 2000, to December 13, 2025. Data analysis and visualization were performed using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package “bibliometrix”. Results: The analysis encompassed 242 articles published in 56 journals. The United States (58 articles, 23.9%), China (28 articles, 11.5%), and Japan (22 articles, 9.1%) were the top countries in terms of research output, with Mayo Clinic (13 articles) identified as the top institution. Journal of Neurosurgery emerged as the most influential journal. Keyword cluster analysis revealed three distinct research areas: facial nerve function monitoring techniques, hearing preservation monitoring strategies, and microsurgical techniques. The research focus has evolved dynamically, with recent trends emphasizing multimodal integrated monitoring, continuous real-time monitoring, artificial intelligence-assisted prediction, and patient quality of life assessment. Conclusion: The bibliometric analysis traced a gradual shift from basic technical verification towards multimodal monitoring and intelligent prediction. Keyword clustering identified three core directions, and the analysis of highlighted terms showed an increasing focus on artificial intelligence and prognostic prediction. Future research should focus on standardizing monitoring techniques, developing intelligent systems, expanding international cooperation, and paying attention to long-term patient-reported outcomes.
