从主述位角度分析《了不起的盖茨比》翻译
Translation Analysis of The Great Gatsby from a Thematic Perspective
摘要: 本研究以主位–述位理论为切入点,探讨《了不起的盖茨比》英译汉过程中语篇信息结构的处理策略。文学翻译,相较于非文字翻译,其语言更丰富多彩,句子结构更灵活,情感更纷乱,以推动情节发展,营造高潮。在小句翻译和分析中,本文从标志性主位和非标志性主位入手探讨了标志性主位的独特效果及其相应的翻译方法,认为英文中标记主位具有强调、对比、讽刺、衔接、句子结构平衡等功能,译者既要注意标记主位的修辞效果,也要注意在中文中的表达,还要注意主位推进模式,以满足连贯的篇章结构。
Abstract: This study employs the Thematic-Rhematic theory as its analytical framework to examine strategies for managing textual information structure in the Chinese translation of The Great Gatsby. Compared to non-literary translation, literary translation features richer and more varied language, more flexible sentence structures, and more complex emotional layers, all of which serve to advance the plot and build narrative climax. Through the translation and analysis of clauses, this paper explores the distinctive effects of marked Themes and their corresponding translation methods, starting from both marked and unmarked Themes. It argues that marked Themes in English serve functions such as emphasis, contrast, irony, cohesion, and sentence-structure balance. Translators must not only attend to the rhetorical effects of marked Themes but also consider their appropriate expression in Chinese, while simultaneously paying attention to thematic progression patterns to ensure a coherent textual structure.
