Abstract: Objective: To explore the changes in adiponectin concentration in chronic insomnia disorder (CID) and its relationship with sleep parameters. Method: There were 57 CID patients and 57 healthy controls (HC). The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) (n = 57) and polysomnography (PSG) (n = 17) are used to assess the degree of insomnia. Serum adiponectin levels were detected by ELISA. Result: Compared with HC, the PSQI score in the CID group increased and the adiponectin level decreased (all P < 0.001). Partial correlation analysis (controlling for gender, age, BMI, years of education, anxiety and depression factors) showed that serum adiponectin in the CID group was negatively correlated with PSQI score (P < 0.01) and negatively correlated with REM sleep latency (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Serum adiponectin metabolism is disordered in CID patients, and it is related to the severity of insomnia.
