Abstract: Hands are the most common body part burned, and edema is one of the most common early complications after hand burns, which can lead to pain, reduced motor function, joint stiffness, abnormal sensation and other problems, and even permanent disability. In order to reduce the degree of edema as soon as possible and promote the recovery of hand function, accurate assessment of the degree of edema is crucial to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation treatment plans. However, visualization and quantification of edema remains one of the clinical challenges due to the peculiarities of hand anatomy. This review aims to summarize the existing methods for the assessment of edema after hand burns and provide a theoretical basis for future research on the management and treatment of hand burn edema.
