Abstract: Alcohol use disorder is a common neuro-psychiatric disease, with anxiety, depression and cognitive dysfunction as its main clinical manifestations, which has a significant impact on the quality of life of patients. The etiological mechanism of alcohol use disorder is complex and diverse. Studies have shown that chronic neuroinflammation plays a key role in its occurrence and development. Microglia, as resident immune cells, become activated when stimulated by alcohol, which leads to the massive release of pro-inflammatory mediators such as cytokines, chemokines, and reactive oxygen species, thereby triggering neuroinflammatory responses. Therefore, exploring the mechanism of microglia in alcohol use disorder provides certain references and basis for in-depth research on the related mechanisms of alcohol use disorder, clinical prevention and treatment, and drug development.
