基于礼貌原则对《红楼梦》中称呼语的英译研究

A Study on the English Translation of Address Forms in The Story of the Stone from the Perspective of Politeness Principle

摘要: 《红楼梦》被公认为中国古典小说艺术的巅峰之作，是一部具有高度思想性和高度艺术性的伟大作品。中国是礼仪之邦，《红楼梦》中充斥着大量的称呼语，其体现着礼貌原则的应用。本文选取《红楼梦》前八十回为研究对象，基于礼貌原则对比分析原著与霍克斯英译本，探究译者基于不同的文化体系在进行称呼语翻译时进行的策略选择问题，以期在了解译者个人特点的同时，为涉及称呼语文本翻译提供一些借鉴。

Abstract: The Story of the Stone is recognized as the pinnacle of classical novel art, and it is also a great work with a high degree of ideology and artistry. China is a country of etiquette. The Story of the Stone is full of address forms that embody the application of the Politeness Principle, To explore the strategic choice of Hawkes in the process of translating address forms based on different cultural systems, this paper selects the first 80 chapters of The Story of the Stone as the research object, then compares the original work and the Hawkes’s translation based on the Politeness Principle, hoping to find the personal characteristics of Hawkes’s translation and to provide some reference for the translation of texts involving address forms as well.
