摘要: 本文从认知语言学的视角出发,探讨了汉语中“说”和英语中“说”类动词“speak”和“say”的词义对比分析。文章首先介绍了隐喻和转喻理论,作为人类认知和理解世界的基本模式,并探讨了它们在语言表达中的运用。本文通过对汉语和英语中“说”的原型词义及其扩展语义的比较,揭示了两种语言在表达相同概念时所展现出的不同特点。文章还进一步分析了汉语和英语中独有的扩展词义,展示了两种语言如何通过隐喻和转喻实现词义的扩展。最后,文章总结了汉语和英语在词义扩展上的异同,并提出理解这些差异对于二语学习者具有一定意义。
Abstract: This study explores the semantic meaning of “Shuo” in Chinese and its English counterparts “speak” and “say” from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. It begins by introducing the theories of metaphor and metonymy as fundamental cognitive processes for human understanding and conceptualization, discussing their application in language expression. By comparing the prototype meanings and extended semantics of the Chinese verb “Shuo” and its English equivalents, this paper reveals the distinct characteristics of the two languages in expressing similar concepts. Furthermore, it analyzes unique extended meanings found exclusively in Chinese or English, demonstrating how these languages achieve semantic extension through metaphor and metonymy. Finally, this paper summarizes both similarities and differences between Chinese and English concerning semantic extension, suggesting that understanding these differences holds certain significance for second language learners.
