“分支”义同源词系联考证——兼论重庆荣昌方言“[k^hua⁴²]”本字

A Study of the Etymological Connection of Homologous Words Meaning “Branch”—With a Discussion on the Original Character of “[k^hua⁴²]” in Rongchang Dialect of Chongqing

摘要: 文章从意义入手，以音转为线索，参照各韵书和字书及根据古代文献典籍，考证了有“分支”义的桍、格、枝、桠、胯、胳、肢、羽、戟为一组同源词，并考察荣昌方言表示“枝”义的[k^hua⁴²]方言本字为“桍”。

Abstract: Starting from meaning and taking sound shift as a clue, this paper, with reference to various rhyme books, character dictionaries and ancient documents, verifies that kua, ge, zhi, ya, kua, ge, zhi, yu, ji—all meaning “branch”—constitute a group of homologous words. It also concludes that the original character of “[khua42]” meaning “branch” in Rongchang dialect is kua.
