矿业工程场景专业英语与矿业类论文学术英语语体差异研究

Stylistic Differences between English for Mining Engineering and for Academic English

摘要: 矿业工程场景专业英语与矿业类论文学术英语同属专门用途英语(ESP)范畴，但两者在语体特征上存在显著差异。本研究自建矿业工程场景专业英语语料库，并结合MineDEAP矿业工程学术英语语料库，从词汇特征与句法特征两个维度对两类语体进行对比分析。研究发现：两者均高频使用名词化结构与复杂句，体现书面语的正式性与客观性；但在词的层面与句的层面均存在一定差异。词的层面包括缩略语的语义指向、情态动词的选择、专业词汇的使用频次与分布、词汇多样性的差异；句的层面包括时态和语态的运用等方面的差异。产生上述差异的主要原因为两类语体的受众群体与交际目的不同。本研究有助于深化对矿业领域英语语体差异的认识，并为矿业专业英语教学与相关翻译实践提供参考。

Abstract: English for Mining Engineering Scenarios and English for Mining Academic Research Papers both fall under the category of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). However, significant stylistic differences exist between the two. This study constructs a self-built corpus of English for Mining Engineering Scenarios and utilizes the MineDEAP corpus of English for Mining Academic Research. Employing corpus linguistics methods, a comparative analysis of the two styles is conducted from the dimensions of lexical features and syntactic features. The findings reveal that both styles frequently use nominalization structures and complex sentences, reflecting the formality and objectivity of written language. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of stylistic differences in English within the mining field and provides references for teaching mining English and related translation practices.
