译者行为批评理论视角下唐诗英译探析——以《长安三万里》为例

An Analysis of the English Translation of Tang Poetry from the Perspective of Translator Behavior Criticism Theory—A Case Study of Chang An

摘要: 《长安三万里》是一部以唐代诗人与经典诗作为核心内容的动画电影，兼具历史叙事价值与文化传播意义。影片中大量唐诗英译成为对外传播的重要载体。本文选取《长安三万里》中的唐诗英译与许渊冲相关译本进行对比研究，基于译者行为批评理论，运用“求真–务实”连续统评价模式，对两种译本的译内与译外行为特征进行了系统性分析。研究发现，许渊冲译本整体更偏向求真，强调语言忠实与意象再现；影片字幕译本则更注重务实，强调表达简洁与受众接受效果。

Abstract: Chang An is an animated film centered on Tang Dynasty poets and classical poetry, combining historical narrative value with cultural significance. The film’s English translations of Tang poems serve as key channels for international cultural dissemination. This study compares these film translations with Xu Yuanchong’s related versions. Drawing on Translator Behavior Criticism and employing the “Truth-seeking-Utility-attaining” continuum mode of evaluation, it systematically examines both intratextual and extratextual features of the two translation types. The analysis reveals that Xu Yuanchong’s translations prioritize truth-seeking, emphasizing linguistic fidelity and faithful rendering of imagery, while the film subtitles lean toward utility-attaining, focusing on conciseness and audience comprehension.
