Personality Traits and Online Knowledge Sharing Behavior: From the Perspectives of Self-Efficacy and Social Motivation
Abstract: Knowledge sharing is a core topic in the field of knowledge management. As an important source of individual differences, personality traits exert significant predictive effects on online knowledge sharing behavior. From the perspectives of self-efficacy and social motivation, this paper systematically reviews the theoretical mechanisms and empirical evidence regarding how personality traits influence online knowledge sharing. The results indicate that personality traits can affect knowledge sharing intention through the mediating role of self-efficacy, and social motivations such as need for belonging, reciprocity norm, and reputation pursuit play moderating roles between personality traits and knowledge sharing. Taking personality traits-motivation-behavior as the main line, this paper reviews the theoretical evolution of knowledge sharing research and extracts two core paths: the self-efficacy mediation path and the social motivation moderation path.
