Abstract: The social adaptability of rural left-behind children is a core topic in multidisciplinary research. Mindful parenting, as an emerging parenting approach, holds significant research value for improving children’s developmental environment. This paper systematically reviews studies on the relationship between mindful parenting and the social adaptability of rural left-behind children. First, it outlines the conceptual definition, current status, and research trends of social adaptability in rural left-behind children. Second, it elaborates on the connotation, theoretical models, measurement methods, and intervention programs of mindful parenting. Third, based on ecosystem theory and conservation of resources theory, it explores the theoretical pathways through which mindful parenting may influence the social adaptability of left-behind children. Finally, it analyzes the limitations of existing research in terms of intervention program comparison, outcome evaluation, and underlying mechanisms, and suggests directions for future research. This review provides a theoretical foundation for developing mindful parenting models tailored to rural left-behind families and for designing culturally adaptive intervention programs.
