二语动机自我系统理论(L2MSS)的研究综述

摘要: 二语动机自我系统理论自Dörnyei于2005年提出以来,逐渐成为二语动机研究的核心理论框架,标志着动机研究从传统融合型与工具型模式向自我认同与心理构念深层转型。该理论强调理想二语自我、应该二语自我及二语学习体验的交互作用,对理解非目的语环境下的学习动机具有重大意义,在当今全球化背景下,为外语教学实践提供了理论支撑。本文在整合国内外相关文献的基础上,系统梳理该理论的发展脉络、核心观点、研究现状、成果及不足,并展望未来研究方向。研究发现,L2MSS在跨文化语境中展现出良好的解释力,尤其在中国EFL环境中经过本土化调适后更具适用性。然而,当前研究仍存在方法单一、理论整合不足、研究对象局限等问题。未来需进一步推动研究方法的多元化、加强跨文化比较与理论融合,并深化教学干预的实证研究,以促进该理论的持续发展与实际应用。
Abstract: Since its proposal by Dörnyei in 2005, the L2 Motivational Self System (L2MSS) theory has gradually evolved into a core theoretical framework in second language (L2) motivation research, marking a profound paradigm shift from the traditional integrative-instrumental motivation model to a perspective centered on self-identity and psychological constructs. This theory emphasizes the interactive dynamics among the ideal L2 self, the ought-to L2 self, and L2 learning experience, which bears great significance for understanding learning motivation in non-native language contexts and provides theoretical underpinnings for foreign language teaching practice against the backdrop of globalization. By synthesizing relevant domestic and international literature, this paper systematically reviews the evolutionary trajectory, core tenets, current research status, achievements, and limitations of the L2MSS theory, while also prospecting future research directions. The findings indicate that the L2MSS exhibits strong explanatory power in cross-cultural contexts, and it becomes even more applicable after undergoing localized adaptations, especially within the Chinese EFL (English as a Foreign Language) context. Nevertheless, existing research is still plagued by such issues as methodological homogeneity, insufficient theoretical integration, and narrow research subject scope. Future studies need to further promote the diversification of research methods, strengthen cross-cultural comparisons and theoretical integration, and deepen empirical research on teaching interventions, so as to advance the sustainable development and practical application of this theory.
