Abstract: Objective: This study adopts bibliometric methods to systematically review the research status, hot topics and evolutionary trends in the field of nostalgia and mental health from 2016 to 2026, so as to provide a reference for future research. Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection was used as the data source to retrieve relevant literature on nostalgia and mental health over the past decade. A total of 493 articles were included after screening, and CiteSpace was employed for visual analysis. Results: Publications showed a fluctuating upward trend in the past decade, peaking in 2018 and 2022. Co-citation analysis identified nine major themes, shifting from basic exploration to diversified applications. High-frequency keywords include autobiographical memory, depression, social connection; recent bursts show loneliness, meaning in life, psychological resilience, and reminiscence therapy as cutting-edge directions. Conclusions: Nostalgia research has shifted from functional verification to mechanism exploration and cross-scenario applications. Future work may focus on its value for social connections, mental disorder regulation, and digital interventions.
