Abstract: As a period drama spanning fifty years, “Our Parents’ Love” uses the marriage of Jiang Defu and An Jie as its main thread, connecting families and lives under the changing times, prompting in-depth reflection on core themes such as happiness, destiny, and freedom. The series uses the small family to reflect the larger society, showcasing the integration of cultures from different regions and social classes, highlighting the modern value of excellent Chinese traditions such as filial piety and harmony, and providing a new approach to “emotional Chinese” in international Chinese language education. In today’s pluralistic world, the essence of love and happiness remains creating freedom within constraints and witnessing the sacred within the ordinary; family and responsibility are the core essence of a fulfilling life. This paper uses the TV series as a vehicle to conduct profound inquiries into life, society, and culture.
