A Report on E-C Translation Practice of “Hydrogen Technologies (Excerpt)”
摘要: 本翻译实践以《氢能技术》第八章“氢的利用”英汉翻译为例,在目的论指导下探讨科技文本的翻译策略。源文本属氢能领域学术专著,术语密集、句式复杂、逻辑严谨。针对词汇、句法、语篇三个层面的难点,采用如下策略:词汇层面统一专业术语,灵活转换名词化结构与复合词;句法层面将被动语态转为主动或采用无主句,对复杂长句进行拆分与重组;语篇层面强化句内逻辑衔接与段落连贯性。实践表明,目的论能有效指导科技翻译,形成可推广的操作范式。同时反思了专业知识深度、策略灵活性与术语管理等方面的不足,以期为同类文本翻译提供参考。
Abstract: This translation practice, based on the English-Chinese translation of Chapter 8 “Hydrogen Utilization” from Hydrogen Technologies, explores translation strategies for scientific and technical texts under Skopos Theory. The source text is an academic monograph featuring dense terminology, complex sentence structures, and strict logic. At the lexical level, strategies include standardizing specialized terms and flexibly converting nominalized structures and compounds. At the syntactic level, the passive voice is transformed into active or subjectless structures, and long complex sentences are divided and restructured. At the discourse level, logical cohesion and coherence are enhanced. The practice demonstrates the effectiveness of Skopos Theory in guiding technical translation. Limitations concerning domain knowledge, strategic flexibility, and terminology management are also discussed, providing references for similar translation tasks.
