Abstract: Atherosclerosis is the primary cause of cardiovascular diseases, characterized by high morbidity and mortality, posing a significant challenge to global public health. The pathogenesis of AS is highly complex, involving multiple cell types, including endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, monocytes/macrophages and others. The intricate and dynamic interactions among these cells play a crucial role in the progression of atherosclerosis. This review systematically summarizes the mechanisms underlying cell-cell interactions during the development of atherosclerosis, aiming to provide insights for the clinical prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis-related diseases.
