三美论下《你是人间的四月天》英译本赏析
Appreciation of the English Version of You Are the April of This World from the Perspective of the Three Beauties Theory
摘要: 《你是人间的四月天》是林徽因极具代表性的抒情新诗,全诗以春日意象为载体,语言轻盈婉转,节奏舒缓优美,情感真挚温暖,兼具绘画美、音乐美与意境美。许渊冲在诗歌翻译理论中提出,优秀的译诗应实现意美、音美、形美的统一:“意美”指再现原作的情感内涵与意境氛围;“音美”指还原诗歌的韵律、节奏与音乐性;“形美”指保留句式结构、诗行排布与形式工整。目前该诗已有多个经典英文译本,其中黄新渠、朱曼华、赵彦春译本流传较广,风格差异鲜明。黄译流畅自然,偏向口语化传情;朱译情感饱满,注重意象铺陈;赵译格律严谨,追求形式与韵律高度对称。本文基于三美论,对三个译本进行多维度对比赏析,评析各译本在美学再现上的得失。
Abstract: You Are the April of This World is a highly representative lyrical modern poem by Lin Huiyin. Using spring imagery as its carrier, the poem features light and graceful diction, soothing and elegant rhythm, sincere and warm emotions, and possesses the beauty of pictorialness, musicality and artistic conception. In his theory of poetry translation, Xu Yuanchong proposes that a fine translated poem should achieve the unity of three beauties: beauty in sense, beauty in sound, and beauty in form. “Beauty in sense” refers to the representation of the original work’s emotional connotation and artistic atmosphere; “beauty in sound” refers to the reproduction of the poem’s meter, rhythm and musicality; “beauty in form” refers to the preservation of its sentence structure, line arrangement and formal symmetry. Several classic English versions of this poem have emerged, among which the translations by Huang Xinqu, Zhu Manhua and Zhao Yanchun enjoy wide popularity with distinct stylistic differences. Huang’s translation is smooth and natural, tending to convey emotions in a colloquial manner; Zhu’s translation is emotionally rich and emphasizes the elaboration of imagery; Zhao’s translation observes strict metrical rules and pursues high symmetry in form and rhythm. Based on the Three Beauties Theory, this paper conducts a multidimensional comparative analysis of the three translations, evaluating their respective merits and demerits in representing the aesthetic qualities of the original poem.
