Abstract: Plant polyphenols are a class of secondary metabolites widely found in plants. They possess various biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-infective, anticancer, and mitochondrial protective effects. They have demonstrated significant efficacy against photoaging, skin cancer, and various skin diseases, and have become a research hotspot in the fields of skin protection and the treatment of skin diseases. This article comprehensively reviews the pharmacological effects of plant polyphenols in combating skin aging, photoaging, promoting skin wound healing, resisting skin infections, and inhibiting skin cancer. Furthermore, the review analyzes the challenges and prospects associated with the development and application of plant polyphenols, aiming to provide theoretical and practical references for their application in skin health protection and the treatment of skin diseases.
