关联理论视角下中国年度流行语英译研究——以《咬文嚼字》与《汉语盘点》2025年度流行语为例
A Study on the Translation of Annual Chinese Buzzwords from the Perspective of Relevance Theory—Taking the 2025 Annual Buzzwords of Yaowen Jiaozi and Chinese Language Review as Examples
摘要: 《咬文嚼字》与《汉语盘点》每年发布的年度流行语具有显著的社会影响力和语言代表性,不仅如实映照了当年的社会热点和文化趋势,也在一定程度上记录了语言的发展演变。研究其翻译规律,不仅有助于完善现代汉语特色流行语对外译介的理论体系,为同类新兴网络话语的翻译提供理论参照与学理支撑,同时有助于减少跨文化传播中的语义偏差、助力中国网络话语、青年文化与社会百态实现有效对外传播。本文以关联理论为基础,对《咬文嚼字》与《汉语盘点》公布的2025年度流行语进行英译研究,以期为译者处理新兴特色词汇、平衡语言形式与文化内涵提供实践借鉴,提升新媒体文本翻译的整体质量与传播效能。
Abstract: Socially influential and linguistically representative buzzwords are released by Yaowen Jiaozi and the Chinese Language Review at every year. They faithfully reflect the social hotspots and cultural trends of the corresponding year, and also record the evolution of language to a certain extent. Research on their translation rules is conducive to improving the theoretical system for the English translation and international communication of characteristic contemporary Chinese buzzwords, providing theoretical reference and academic support for the translation of similar emerging online discourse. It also helps reduce semantic deviations in cross-cultural communication, and promote the effective international dissemination of Chinese online discourse, youth culture and social dynamics. Based on Relevance Theory, this paper conducts a study on the translation of the 2025 annual buzzwords released by Yaowen Jiaozi and the Chinese Language Review, aiming to provide practical references for translators in handling emerging characteristic vocabulary and balancing linguistic form with cultural connotation, thereby enhancing the overall quality and communication efficiency of new media text translation.
