Abstract: Objective: To examine the association between agreeableness and acute exercise-induced cardiovascular reactivity in college students. Methods: A total of 308 students completed the Big Five Inventory-2 Short Form (BFI-2-S). Cardiovascular reactivity was induced using a 2-minute squat task, and changes in systolic blood pressure (ΔSBP), diastolic blood pressure (ΔDBP), and heart rate (ΔHR) were analyzed using a multivariate Bayesian model. Results: Agreeableness showed negative trends across all cardiovascular indices, but the effect sizes were small and all 95% credible intervals included zero. Baseline diastolic blood pressure strongly predicted post-exercise diastolic blood pressure, whereas no clear interaction effect was observed. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were moderately correlated, while heart rate was relatively independent. Conclusions: The present study provides preliminary evidence suggesting that agreeableness may be associated with lower cardiovascular reactivity; however, substantial uncertainty remains, and larger studies are needed to further verify these findings.
