普通话/a/类韵母的声学实现——基于四类音位变体的实验语音学分析

摘要: 汉语拼音字母“a”在不同语音环境中呈现系统性的音值差异,传统描述多停留于经验层面,缺乏系统的声学量化证据。依据音位变体分布规则,可将普通话/a/类韵母分为四类:前a [a] (韵尾i/n)、央a [A] (零韵尾)、后a [ɑ] (韵尾u/ng)、前半低a [ɛ] (韵头i/ü + 韵尾n)。每类选取20个常用词语,由一名普通话标准的男性发音人朗读,使用Praat软件提取元音段中点的第一共振峰(F1)、第二共振峰(F2)及时长,每词采样3次取均值进行统计分析。结果表明:四类变体在F1、F2和时长上呈现系统的声学差异,完全符合音位学预期的分布格局。前a [a]的F1最高,开口度最大,且其F2亦显著高于后a [ɑ],体现舌位前后差异;前半低a [ɛ]的F1最低,舌位最高,同时F2也最高,呈现明显的前高化趋势;前a [a]和前半低a [ɛ]因受韵尾影响,时长显著短于央a [A]和后a [ɑ]。上述差异均受语音环境严格制约,未构成音位对立,可解释为/a/的条件同位异音。本研究为普通话/a/的音位变体描述提供了系统的声学证据,并对语音教学提供了量化参考。
Abstract: The pinyin letter “a” in Mandarin Chinese exhibits systematic variation in its phonetic realization across phonological environments. However, traditional descriptions often remain impressionistic and lack acoustic-phonetic quantification. Focusing on Mandarin /a/-type finals, this study classifies the relevant realizations into four categories according to their distributional patterns: front a [a] (with codas -i/-n), central a [A] (with zero coda), back a [ɑ] (with codas -u/-ŋ), and front open-mid a [ɛ] (with a medial i/ü plus coda -n). Twenty high-frequency lexical items were selected for each category. A male speaker with standard Mandarin pronunciation read the word list; using Praat, we extracted the first (F1) and second (F2) formant frequencies at the temporal midpoint of each vowel segment, as well as vowel time duration. Each item was recorded three times, and the mean values were submitted to statistical analysis. The results show that the four allophonic categories display systematic acoustic differences in F1, F2 and duration, fully consistent with the expected distributional pattern. Front a [a] exhibits the highest F1, indicating the greatest opening degree of vowels, while its F2 is significantly higher than that of back a [ɑ], reflecting a clear front–back tongue-position contrast. Front open-mid a [ɛ] has the lowest F1 (the highest tongue position) and the highest F2, demonstrating a marked tendency toward fronting and raising. In terms of temporal properties, front a [a] and front open-mid a [ɛ], both influenced by their codas, are significantly shorter than central a [A] and back a [ɑ]. These context-dependent differences do not constitute phonemic contrast; rather, they are best analyzed as conditioned allophones of /a/. This study provides systematic acoustic evidence for the allophonic description of Mandarin /a/ and offers quantitative implications for pronunciation instruction.
